Day 7 Halong to Hue

“Mrs M, have you seen where I’ve put my Dong?” A rolling of the eyes and she stared at the bureau drawer. Always good to know where the local currency is.

The limestone has a spectral presence today, as a mist rounds off the sharp edges and dulls the transition from water to cliff. No further musings on shape shifting as a 7.40 trip ashore for a swim is first up

Not many takers

Not a classic beach day for sure. No sun, the water was cool – no manly plunge for me, but rather a slow immersion until, ahem, the undercarriage had retracted. Two laps of the bouyed off area then back to the ship for breakfast.

The Beach

Mrs M informs me she is now proficient in the art of slow motion attack, having had a Tai Chi lesson earlier. I don’t think it is going to be a case of “not now Cato”.

A slow return back to port and hearing news that all Halong Bay cruise ships are going into lockdown for a week. Quite a few passengers now having to rethink their plans. Our itinerary not affected as we are moving on to Hue when we leave the boat.

Dragon & Driver waiting dockside for the 2 + hour airport transfer. Said goodbye to Dragon who has been an excellent guide and coped well with the vagaries of Covid-19.

Check in, flight, meet & greet in Hue all seamless. Our new guide, Lan, and driver, Pan will show us around Hue tomorrow
