DAY 15 - Coningham Bay

After exiting the Bellot Strait, we hoofed it across the Franklin Strait to a renowned polar bear spotting place.


A bumpy ride on the zodiac brought us to a shallow bay where a couple of bears ambled in the distance.

This was more of a blast there and back rather than serious nature watching, although of course it is complete luck of the draw as to what creatures will turn up. Back to Fram for dinner then off we go to our next destination on King William Island.


I had the opportunity to visit the Engine Room and to sample the "really important part of the ship" that is one room to rule them all - so said the Chief Engineer - a laconic Norwegian chap, who seemed mildly surprised that anyone would want to peer into his realm.
